Our Chiropody department carries out in its broadest sense, the routine, everyday practice in Podiatric Medicine which encompasses basis foot care.
The term is often used, however, to delineate those services which do not usually involve biomechanical or surgical intervention. In a general podiatric practice, these types of services are, some examples are listed below:
Bacterial and fungal infections of the skin and nails.
Ingrown nails are one of our major concerns and are dealt with routinely here in the clinic, if necessary under Local Anesthetic.
Routine debridement of foot and legs ulcerations. Debridement of callus and corns.
Treatment of plantar warts (verruca)
Local manifestation of systemic disease like rheumatoid arthritis, chiropody can aid in an overall treatment plan for example by using laser, to aid in pain
We also look after the growing feet and legs in children.
